Who we’re looking for
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will oversee the company's financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations and help with controlling functions. This role requires a solid understanding of accounting principles and strong payroll skills.
Due to the fast-paced and high-growth nature of the Company, the candidate must be detail-oriented, able to operate effectively and independently in a rapidly growing and dynamic environment to help drive the Company’s continued growth, and willing to roll up their sleeves when needed.
Your typical responsibilities would include:
- Financial reporting: Prepare and analyze consolidated financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, compilation and filing of our annual statements etc. Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) or IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and other regulatory requirements.
- Month-end close: Manage and prepare routine month-end duties. Preparation and making of payments and being accountable for monthly accounting reconciliation and schedules.
- Payroll: Compilation and review of Katana’s 145+ (and growing) payroll.
- Tax laws and regulations: Preparing, managing and filing tax reports and ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Internal controls: Periodic review and controlling of Katana’s costs and revenues, as well as maintaining and monitoring internal controls to improve operational efficiency, prevent fraud, increase efficiency, and help safeguard Katana’s assets. Develop and implement internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Conduct periodic reviews and audits to assess control effectiveness.
- Financial analysis: Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement to drive business performance. Must understand how the financial statements work together.
- Process improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- External relationships: As needed, work closely with external auditors, tax authorities, and other third-party service providers to build and maintain strong relationships that support the company's financial objectives.
You’re the perfect fit if you
- Take full ownership of your domain and have a development mindset in looking to improve reporting and accounting processes;
- Have previous experience working as an accountant for a software company with international reach;
- Have experience implementing different accounting and financial software;
- Have an open mindset when it comes to working in a rapidly growing company with regard to maintaining and improving financial processes;
- At least 3 years of experience as an accountant;
- Knowing and feeling comfortable with local GAAP or IFRS as well as taxation rules and procedures;
- Experience in payroll accounting;
- Experience in consolidating financial accounts;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Proficient use of Excel and bookkeeping software (Merit, Telema, Costpocket, etc.)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience in controlling procedures and workflows;
